Open Collaborative Design

In much the same way Wikipedia enables multiple contributors to collaborate on content creation, the open collaborative design process gives community members an opportunity to share ideas, edit the contributions of others, and to vote on the success or failure of proposed modifications.

Self Publishing Design IDAS(DM2) Youhwa Song

Self publishing Design

> Introduction

This project is basically about self-build book design. Coming up with this idea for a customized and personalized book ordering system. This suggestion is based on book publishers produce books focussing on personal tastes. Fisrt step is mainly people would buy a text file( PDF)of book via publisher's website on the internet and then if someone want to copy the book on the paper at the same time, customers will be able to design book cover and text pages on their own. At the end, publisher will check out the personal design and they publish the book
according to customer's design image file. The main point is that this system is people can get own design style book which made by personal needs. Finally, people can enjoy designing and building own their book contents. Also, customers they could share own book design templets with other customers mutually.

> Features of this system

1. You can change the font size and font color.
2. You can choose the size of the book.
3. you can select main color and images of book cover.
4. you can create layout of each pages with any styles you wish.
5. you can choose paper that you prefer.
6. It can show you 2D graphic program on the website.
7. people can share their own design sources on the website.
8. In case, someone do not need to have an end product,
they can print out book personally at home.
9. It has an automatic book design maker program and manual on the web
so that anyone can access easily even if someone is a begginer of book editorial design.

Open Source Design for Design Contests, IDAS(DMD2) - Min yeon-jae

*Introduction

In these days, design already becomes the most valuable study and business. Many students want to study in design and they, of course, want to be a famous designer in the near future. So they always concern how to show their design works and how to participate in many design projects even if those are virtual. That’s why the students attend to design contests. There are many well known design contests all over the world, especially reddot design award, IF and so on. But some problems still remain. When some people who have no skill in design want to participate in a design contests, it’s hard to develop their ideas into visualization. And even though participants studied in design, they don’t know all of design contests in the world. They also don’t have much time to join many contests simultaneously. And sometimes, when they develop their ideas in design, they need help from people who studied in other fields, except design. For example, if some designers want to join a design contest about medicine, then it’s better to design with people who studied medicine. These are reasons why I want to make an open source design community that would help people who want to do well in design contets.

*Feature of this process

1. You can join design contests even though you don’t have any experiences about design.
2. You can develop ideas with other field’s people.
3. You can challenge a big contest, even you are not enough to finish the work alone.
4. Much information about design contests can be shared in this community.
5. You can start more than one design contest’s work at the same time.
6. You can make relationships with other designers.
7. You can participate in many different design works.
8. If you are awarded in many contests, then you’ll be able to make much money!

New Interior service system plan IDAS(DM2)dong soo jin

*Introduction

‘Help Interior’ service.
Full time mother has a lot of time so they can be as a master in some field of home design and education of children. And I focused on first thing. They already like a master of interior and they want to design well it more and more. Also some 'super mom' already share their interior information with other users into blog and it's really good source. But there is some problem because they are not real interior designer. They don’t know well about how to display some unique furniture (even they can make some interior accessories or furnitures by them self.) and light and also it could be hard to imagine what’s going on if they display them.
It’s the start point of this Idea.
I am thinking of some program service that everybody can use easily even if they don’t know at all about 3d program. This program will be offered by construction company where make some apartment.
And then It’ll help them who want to buy the apartment or residents when they are design their house or want to see atmosphere before buy tham. It’s the win-win!

*Feature of this service.
1. It can show you 3d shape of inside of house.
2. You can see unnecessary walls and also delete it imaginary.
3. You can change the wall paper and floor in 3d.
4. You can display some furniture in 3d.
5. The program will offer to you some example and source for that.

6. Some furniture company also offer to you example and source of design using their item.
7. It's not the program for pro-interior designer so it doesn't have to make high quality result.

Virtual Collaboration

There are two possible approaches for exploring "virtual collaboration". The first is to add digital tools to existing processes or to recreate face-to-face experiences digitally. This seems to be the approach of most "collaborative technology" providers -- they want to create digital tools that make it seem like "you're in the same room" with people in other parts of the world. As facilitators of collaborative design, we know that most face to face meetings are highly unstructured and unproductive. Why would anyone want to perpetuate those experiences online in the first place?

The second approach to virtualization is to explore the core principles that makes a face-to-face process effective, and then to apply those core principles to a new, digital environment. The resulting process would leverage the strengths of the new medium rather than faithfully replicating the original face-to-face experience.

So what are the core principles of our face-to-face collaborative design process? What is it that we really do?
